Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Destination Tours LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our products: the Destination Tours app, the Destination Hunts app, and destinationtours.com (together, the "Services").

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

Across the Services:

  • Support or inquiry messages

Destination Tours:

  • Hotel account information (name, email, phone, business details)

Destination Hunts:

  • A display name you choose when joining a team with an event code — playing does not require creating an account or providing an email address
  • Photos and short videos you capture or select and submit to complete challenges
  • Answers you submit to trivia and other challenges
  • Team chat messages you send
  • Optional team or member photos and avatars
  • Event host and facilitator account information (name, email), managed through our authentication provider
  • If an event organizer registers players on your behalf (for example, from a participant list), the organizer may provide your name and email address to send you a team invitation

B. Automatically Collected Information

When using the Services, we may collect:

  • Device information (model, OS version, browser)
  • Usage data (pages viewed, actions taken, navigation patterns)
  • IP address
  • Language preferences

Destination Hunts: when you join a team, the app generates a device identifier (derived from device attributes such as model, OS version, and install time) that links your device to your team for the duration of the event. During gameplay we also record activity such as challenge completions, scores, online status, and an event activity feed that shows your display name alongside your team's actions. We collect crash and error diagnostics to keep the app working. If you allow notifications, we also collect your device's push notification token so we can deliver event notifications to your device; the token identifies your device, not you, and is used only to send you notifications about your event.

C. Location Data

With your permission, we collect approximate or precise location information to:

Destination Tours:

  • Show attractions near you
  • Deliver location-based tour features
  • Provide navigation and distance calculations

Destination Hunts:

  • Show your position on the in-game map and your distance to challenge locations
  • Verify that your team is at the right place for location-based (GPS) challenges — your coordinates are sent to our servers only at the moment you attempt such a challenge, used to check your distance to the challenge location, and are not stored
  • Detect nearby event beacons (Bluetooth) for beacon-based challenges, where the event uses them

Location is used only while you are actively using the app. You can disable location access at any time in device settings; location-based features may not work without it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Deliver and improve the Services
  • Provide tour details, attraction content, and hotel information
  • Run scavenger-hunt events: team play, challenge submissions and scoring, live leaderboards, team chat, and event activity feeds
  • Send push notifications about your event — such as team chat messages, gameplay updates, and game start or stop announcements — if you have allowed notifications on your device
  • Review challenge submissions, including automated (AI-assisted) checks that help event hosts validate photo and video submissions
  • Support multilingual experiences
  • Display hotel promotions and guest offers
  • Analyze usage to improve app features
  • Communicate updates or respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Hotel, Event Host & Partner Content

Hotels may upload or provide guest content such as:

  • Amenity info
  • Hours
  • Promotional offers
  • Suggested attractions

Event organizers using Destination Hunts create and run their events: they author the challenges, invite or register teams, and administer gameplay. When you participate in an event, we process your participation data (display name, submissions, chat, scores) on behalf of the event's organizer, and the organizer can see it — see Section 4.

We process this information on behalf of the hotel or event organizer.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share your information with:

  • Service providers who help operate the Services (analytics, hosting, media storage and delivery, support tools, push notification delivery)
  • Hotels, but only aggregated or non-personal information about guest usage (unless the guest explicitly provides contact info)
  • Your event's organizer and facilitators (Destination Hunts): the people running your event can see team rosters and display names, challenge submissions (including photos and videos), scores, the activity feed, and messages sent on the help channel
  • Your team and other event participants (Destination Hunts): your display name appears to your team and on event-wide surfaces such as the leaderboard and activity feed; team chat messages are visible to your team
  • Authorities, if required for legal compliance

We never sell user data to advertisers.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

The Website uses cookies to:

  • Analyze usage
  • Save language preferences
  • Improve performance

You may disable cookies through your browser, but some features may not work properly.

6. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for:

  • Delivering the Services
  • Legal obligations
  • Resolving disputes

Destination Hunts session access expires shortly after your event ends. Event content — including challenge submissions, chat messages, and team records — may be retained afterward so organizers can review their event, unless you or the organizer request deletion. Push notification tokens stop being used when your event session ends.

You may request deletion at any time — see our Delete My Data page.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information.

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

8. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or solicit information from children under 13.

Destination Hunts events are organized by an event host; participants under 13 may only take part with the consent and supervision of the organizer and a parent or guardian, and we still do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 directly.

If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

If you use the Services outside the United States, you agree that your information may be processed in the U.S. where data protection laws may differ.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time.

When updated, the "Last Updated" date will change.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • Access your data
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Restrict certain processing
